Jūrmalciems is an old fishing village on the shores of the Baltic Sea with a peculiar, pristine environment, where each house is surrounded by dunes. You usually start the sightseeing of Jūrmalciems at the sea and the pier, which is still used by local fishers to moor vessels. Several fishermen’s brigades regularly go to sea. Although the number of fishers, the volume of work and the quantities of fish are not the same as they were a few decades ago, every July there is Fishermen’s Festival where visitors come from near and far. You can feel the puff of the ancient fishing village, see at the ships and the pier here.

You can purchase fresh and smoked fish from the locals.
